Ingoglia Endorsed by IAFF in State Senate Race

Florida Rep. Blaise Ingoglia (R) has served on the Florida House since being elected to office in 2014. As he transitions out of the House, the Florida lawmaker has announced that he will be running for state Senate. With a new campaign announced right as Republicans are polling high across the country, Ingoglia has received an endorsement from the International Association of Firefighters Florida Chapter who enthusiastically support his candidacy.

In a statement, Derrick Ryan, the Vice President of Florida Professional Firefighters District 10, commented that the “IAFF strives to engage elected officials on the issues that matter to our members and their families,” adding that “our wages, benefits, working conditions, health and safety, and pensions are all in the hands of elected officials, and Rep. Blaise Ingoglia has been a longtime champion of these issues.”

Ryan further commented that “the IAFF Florida Chapter endorses and supports Ingoglia in the race for Florida Senate District 10 because we believe he will continue to honorably serve the citizens of Florida, and the interests of the men and women employed in the Fire and Emergency Medical Services.”

In response, Ingoglia said he was “honored to receive the endorsement of the District 10 Florida Professional Firefighters,” expressing that his “campaign is about the people, especially the men and women who have made the protection of life and property their life’s work.”

He vowed to “consistently advocate for initiatives to help better protect our firefighters and EMS workers,” and he thanked them for their “confidence in my campaign to move our state forward.”

The endorsement comes after a Washington Post-ABC News poll shows that the GOP has a 10-point advantage over Democrats heading into the 2022 midterm election. After winning the gubernatorial election in Virginia this month, the GOP is hoping that this momentum will translate into sweeping victories across the state.
