Vice President Kamala Harris seems to think that using a fake French accent when speaking to scientists in France as part of her charm offensive overseas visit would help repair the soured relationship with U.S.' oldest ally.

Harris on Tuesday toured the Institut Pasteur science lab in Paris, where American scientists are working alongside French scientists on scientific research to tackle COVID-19. During her tour, Harris gave brief remarks to a group of French scientists regarding the U.S.-France alliance on scientific research but pivoted to speak about her love for science.

"One of the things people in politics and government should really take from the approach of scientists — scientists operate with a hypothesis. I love that. A hypothesis. It's well-thought-out, it's well-planned, they start out with a hypothesis, and then they test it out, knowing invariably, you're trying something for the first time, there will be glitches, there will be mistakes. Then everyone gets together, no one gets beat up about it, you analyze it- what went wrong, reevaluate, update the hypothesis and start again," Harris said in her remarks.

Afterward, Harris attempted to explain how politicians should operate more like scientists in sticking with the campaign plan, changing her accent whenever she used the phrase "The Plan."

"With us in government, we campaign with 'The Plan! Uppercase T, uppercase P. The Plan!'" Harris said, gesturing with her hands to add dramatics. And then the environment is such that we're expected to defend de plan, even when the first time we roll it out there may be some glitches, and it's time to reevaluate it and then do it again."

The French scientist appeared to be embarrassed for Harris' when she mimicked a french accent each time she said "The Plan."

Harris visited the institute's lab, where her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, reportedly worked in the 1980s researching breast cancer.

The VP 5-day visit is seen as a bid to rebuild bridges as the relationship with America's oldest ally has hit a historic low. A series of blunders President Biden's made over the summer with its botched secret US-British submarine deal with Australia blindsided France, who lost a pending $65 billion contract with the Australian navy. As a result of the AUKUS deal, France briefly withdrew its ambassador to the U.S. in September.

Late week, Biden told French President Emmanuel Macron that the U.S had been "clumsy" in its handling of the AUKUS deal.

Speaking in different accents is nothing new for Harris, and the latest gaffe comes at the same time the VP's latest approval rating sunk to a historical level – even worse than Biden as only 28% thinks she is doing a good job. According to the USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll released earlier this week, 51% disapprove of the job Harris is doing. Harris' approval ratings began to decline following her rare interview with NBC's Lester Holt in early June, where she gave a snarky response as to why she had not visited the border. As of Nov. 9, Harris' latest average of all polls shows 41% of registered voters had a favorable opinion while 51% had an unfavorable opinion.
