Florida Democrats Reveling in Their Infrastructure Victory

Share

President Joe Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill passed last weekend and was voted on by Florida Democrats in the House of Representatives, but not one member of the Republican Caucus supported it.

Democrats like Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz questioned her Republican colleagues' vote against the infrastructure measure, telling them to “remember that fact” the next time they hit the road.

“Not one Republican Senator or Congressmember from FLA voted for the Biden Infrastructure Deal that delivers billions in road, bridge, transit & water aid to our state. Remember that fact the next time you're on the road.@FlaDemsget the work done,” stated Rep. Wasserman Schultz.

Democrats are rejoicing over the bill’s passage and have been promoting the overall details of the legislation on social media even as Republicans have been telling their constituents that the measure was nothing more than a big precursor to the massive “socialist wishlist” and “tax increase” spending bill that will be addressed next week.

“Tonight’s vote was just the start of Democrats’ attempts to jam through a multitrillion dollar socialist wishlist with the largest tax increase in decades to pay for it. Their reckless spending habit has already caused massive inflation and labor shortages, and I will do everything in my power to stop them from continuing down the path toward socialism,” stated Rep. Brian Mast (R).

The 13 Republicans legislators that voted with Republicans to pass the bill are now considered persona non grata by conservative lawmakers like Rep. Byron Donalds (R), who believe it was a betrayal to Americans.

Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D), who posted her celebration of the bill passing, recently stated that “The bipartisan infrastructure bill is the biggest & boldest investment into American infrastructure in a generation.”

Other Florida Democrats had more to say about the win, the passage of the bill.

Rep. Ted Deutch (D):

"Crumbling, outdated infrastructure weakens our economy, hurts families, and costs businesses. I was proud to vote for the Bipartisan #InfrastructureBill, which will create good-paying union jobs, enable us to compete in the 21st Century, & pave the way for economic growth."

Rep. Kathy Castor (D):

"We are finally going to #BuildBackBetter for our neighbors and kids, create good-paying, family-sustaining jobs and protect our air and water. This is the progress that Floridians have been waiting for."

This jubilation could be short-lived when legislators address and vote on the  Build Back Better bill, the $1.75-trillion progressive spending bill.
