Florida Democrat Jones Wants to Repeal 'Stand Your Ground Laws'

After a jury in Kenosha, Wisconsin found Kyle Rittenhouse “Non-Guilty” of murdering 2 individuals and wounding another, Democrats have expressed their anger and disappointment in the verdict and some want to repeal "Stand Your Ground Laws."

Florida State Senator and activist Shevron Jones joined the Democratic choir of disdain against the U.S. Justice System, stating that the system “has failed once again” and went as far as to demand that “Stand Your Ground Laws” be repealed.

“A murderer has walked free and the victims and their families have lost their opportunity at justice. This case may be over, but our fight for justice is not. We need to repeal Stand Your Ground laws and ensure that people face consequences for violent actions,” stated Sen. Jones in a letter to constituents.

Sen. Jones, who has been one of the largest advocates in Florida on gun reform, also appeared to insinuate that the Rittenhouse case was somewhat racially driven, questioning the President Bill Clinton-appointed judge, and stating that the verdict by a bi-racial jury “was a dark day for the Justice System.”

“We need to reform our practice of electing judges and empower prosecutors to make strong cases against people based on the actions they’ve taken, not based on the color of their skin. We need to reform gun safety laws to ensure that a 17 year old cannot walk down the street with an assault rifle and kill innocent people. We need to do all of these things and more if we hope to ever live in a just society. I’m angry and I’m sad. I’m sure you are too. Friday was a dark day for the Justice System. The only thing we can do now is use this as a reminder of how much work there is left to be done,” concluded Jones.

Other Democrats like Reps. Cori Bush and Ayanna Pressley baselessly called Rittenhouse a “White Supremacist” without any proof he had any ties or allegiances to any racist groups, or having espoused any past racial remarks.

Shortly after the verdict, Rittenhouse was seen having lunch in Florida. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently expanded the state's "Stand  Your Ground" laws.
