With his international meetings wrapping up, it is no secret that President Joe Biden (D) plans to enact trade and foreign policy that is vastly different from the previous administration. News broke today that the Biden Administration plans to enter the first carbon-based trade agreement.
After the G20 Summit, President Biden made crucial moves such as rolling back on Trump Era policies, such as tariff on European steel and aluminum. EU officials even described the move as "pre-2018 relations," and or a "new era," in EU and US relations.
U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai said the agreement between the U.S. and E.U. delivered on President Joe Biden's "mission to turn the page on past disputes and begin a new chapter of enhanced trans-Atlantic relations."
However, many have overlooked noting that the new trade deal with the EU and US intends to "world's first trade agreement based on how much carbon is in a product." - Sky News reported:
Biden referred to the negotiations as a "critical win for American workers and the climate agenda," and did not fail to blame the Trump Administration's tariffs for the "significant tension with our friends in the European Union."
