Poll Shows Big Republican Support for DeSantis and Rubio

With the upcoming 2022 midterm election, Democrats have vowed to expand their ground, and the Sunshine State is hosting races heavily contested races both at the state and federal levels. So far, a number of Democrats are vying to unseat incumbent Republicans, and two races that will be closely watched are the gubernatorial race involving Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and the Senatorial race involving Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R).

Though both parties are facing infighting with Republicans facing President Donald Trump’s (R) involvement in campaigning and Democrats sparring over disagreements regarding President Joe Biden’s (D) infrastructure bill, a new Republican poll finds that Gov. DeSantis and Sen. Rubio still maintain support among registered Republicans.

At the start of the week, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham (R), commented on the effort launched against Senator Rubio in an email to raise funds.

“Democrats are spending $300,000+ a week on ads attacking Marco, Super PACs are pouring MILLIONS into Flipping Florida blue, and Chuck Schumer’s campaign arm has listed Marco as one of their top three targets,” explained Graham.

President Trump won the state of Florida in 2020, and has endorsed Rubio in his upcoming reelection campaign.  A new VCreek/AMG poll indicates that Rubio is up 42% to 38% against his Democratic rival, Florida Rep. Val Demings (D). 

The poll has a margin of error of 4.87%.

Although Rubio is up in the poll, the poll does indicate that 15% of those polled remain undecided, and an estimated 5% intend on voting on another candidate.

In reference to the gubernatorial race, DeSantis leads Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) 47% to 39% with 12% undecided and 2% opting to vote for another candidate. Likewise, DeSantis leads Florida Agriculture Commission 48% to 36%.

Despite dwindling registration numbers, Democrats have vowed that they will be elected statewide and nationwide, so all eyes will be on the months ahead as members from both parties attempt to convince voters for their platform over the other.
