Crist Campaign Claims two Dozen Endorsements

Share

Over the weekend, Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) scored two dozen new endorsements as he looks to once again serve the Sunshine State as its Governor. Having previously done so as a Republican, the Florida lawmaker now turns his sights (again) to turn the state blue, and a slew of new endorsements are hoping that he does.

The endorsements are comprised of community leaders and South Florida elected officials, and the announcement was made over the weekend during an event at Dania Beach with 18 of his endorsers.

In response to the growing support, Crist commented that he is “honored and thankful to have the support of this astounding group of Broward County former and current elected and community leaders.”

He detailed that “these endorsements reflect the strength and diversity of support our campaign has been blessed to receive in our mission to restore the soul of our Sunshine State and build a Florida for all.”

“Broward County continues to play a key role taking back the Governor’s Mansion in 2022 and delivering the kind of leadership our people deserve,” he added, noting that his campaign would not “relent in the fight for what’s best for our state and all Floridians.”

In recent polls, Crist’s primary challenger, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried (D), has overtaken him with support, but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has disregarded both of their campaigns as not posing a threat to his reelection in the upcoming 2022 election.

The endorsers present at the conference issued a joint statement, arguing that “Charlie is the experienced and tested leader we need to end the string of reckless and heartless leadership plaguing our state and usher in a new era of growth and opportunity for Florida and all its people.”

Calling Crist “a relentless public servant,” he gained their support because they feel he has proven “to our communities time and time again that he can be trusted to deliver for our teachers, our environment, our working families, and Floridians of color.”
