Texas' Abortion Law is Coming to Florida, Pro-Abortion Activists vow Fight

Share

Appearing on “This Week in South Florida” Sunday morning political TV show, Democratic State Rep. Robin Bartleman solidified her pro-Abortion position, saying that “when life occurs” is dependent on “who you are” and “depends on your personal beliefs” and on “your religion.”

“This country is founded on personal religious beliefs. When life occurs, it depends on who you are. It depends on your personal beliefs. It depends on your religion,” said Rep. Bartleman.

Bartleman is saying that life only begins when an individual says it does. Meaning, for one person may believe that life begins at 6 weeks, while another believes it begins at 8 weeks.

Most religions do not support abortion.

It's unclear if just anyone can make such a medical decision but the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists doesn’t agree with the actual definition of what many of these “Heartbeat” bills say is an actual heartbeat at 6 weeks.

“What is interpreted as a heartbeat in these bills is actually electrically-induced flickering of a portion of the fetal tissue that will become the heart as the embryo develops. Thus, ACOG does not use the term ‘heartbeat’ to describe these legislative bans on abortion because it is misleading language, out of step with the anatomical and clinical realities of that stage of pregnancy.”

But according to other research by fellow Obstetricians, “a fetal heartbeat may first be detected by a vaginal ultrasound as early as 5 1/2 to 6 weeks after gestation. That’s when a fetal pole, the first visible sign of a developing embryo, can sometimes be seen.”

Appearing with Bartleman was Republican State Rep. Anthony Sabatini, who has announced that he will introduce the Texas-style abortion legislation.

Rep. Sabatini says that his bill will be a “mirror copy of the Texas bill” but will have exemptions attached to it, like abortions in the case of rape or incest.

“Heartbeat bill is really a great compromise bill because it still allows some Choice, but stops abortions in most circumstances,” said Rep. Sabatini.

“We want to decrease abortions of babies that are completely fine, where there was no rape, incest.”-Rep. Anthony Sabatini

Since the U.S. Supreme Court allowed for the Texas bill to go into effect, pro-Choice activists and elected officials like Bartleman, Sen. Annette Taddeo (D), and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D), have vowed to fight Rep. Sabatini and any Republican effort to bring the Texas law to Florida.

"Texas Republicans want to invade women's most intimate family decisions and control their bodies. But before this grotesque law stands or spreads@FlaDems and @POTUS are gearing up for a fight," tweeted Rep. Wasserman Schultz.
