Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) released a video Thursday highlighting the latest high-profile border disaster that saw over the past week a sea of migrants, the majority being Haitian encamped under a bridge, a situation self-inflicted by President Biden’s lack of action that caused “a cascade of calamities and disasters.”
The video shared on Rubio’s social media accounts begins with the headline “There’s a crisis at the border,” with three different narratives spotlighting the surge of 13,000 migrants “packed under” the International Bridge in Del Rio, Texas, with one of the voice stating that the “situation is completely deteriorating.”
“At one point, it was accommodating more than 13,000 people. That is a huge number that border agents say is unprecedented,” the third voice-over said.
The voice-over then shifts to Rubio, who argued that Biden and his administration’s past rhetoric regarding immigration created “the perception” that everyone can cross the border while being naive in not expecting thousands to flock into our country.
“We can’t go around for months, sort of, arguing that does not have any border security and creating the perception and the reality that people can enter the country, and they’re going to get to stay and not expect for thousands of people to come,” Rubio said in the video that was part of an interview he did on Fox News’ earlier this week on “Hannity.”
Drone footage shot by Fox News was featured in the video showing migrants living in impromptu makeshift camps under the bridge. The number of migrants last Wednesday reported about 4,000 under the bridge but doubled to almost 8,200 overnight. The Fox News reporter who brought to light the latest scene of chaos at the Del Rio border sector notes Border officials who are working on the ground saying, “this situation is out of control, and they need help.”
The video also highlights Del Rio’s Democratic mayor, Bruno Lozano who called out the Biden administration to address the crisis, describing the massive encampment under the bridge was almost one-third of the population he represents.
“Border patrol is, unfortunately, is strained to its limit. Beyond limit now,” Lozano said in a press conference last week, featured in the video that shifted to a CNN reporter covering the Del Rio mayor saying, “The local mayor, a Democrat pleading for the Biden administration to boost resources. The humanitarian crisis unfolding at the southern border of the United States.”
Rubio also blasted the Biden administration for their “incompetence” in their failure to handle the migrant surge, ending the video with the headline “It’s Time To Act.”
“We can spend an hour here talking about the cascade of calamities and disasters that have all been brought about by this administration, their incompetence, and the wrong decisions that they’ve made,” Rubio said.
