Florida has recently been the epicenter of national politics, in particular, because of the state's controversial monoclonal treatment that President Biden (D) has now cut shipments of. Today at a press conference Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) responded to the controversy, expressing he was confident that "Biden hates Florida."
Monoclonal treatments up until this point, have been accepted as a valid form of treatment for the COVID-19 virus. The treatment received recognition from not only Gov. DeSantis, but also his charismatic political rival, Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried (D-FL). The progressive commissioner and gubernatorial hopeful has since responded to Biden's monoclonal move, condemning the administration's move.
DeSantis laid out the specifics to the Floridian in Tallahassee today:
"The Biden Administration has dramatically cut, they seized control of the supply nationwide and now they are dramatically cutting what's coming into the state of Florida. That's wrong." DeSantis elaborated, "That is dead wrong. And why are they targeting Florida? He hates Florida."
Governor DeSantis has come to this conclusion as a long-drawn-out feud between him and the President reaches new highs. Even "in spite of the data" according to DeSantis, Biden has been "obsessed with trying to kneecap Florida." And he has been doing this by taking away "life-saving treatments, I'm sorry, this should be beyond politics."
As for the state of Florida, the backlash against the Federal government's move has been bipartisan. In fact, unorthodox practices in battling COVID-19 have gained the endorsement of individuals from all corners of the political spectrum, including Rep. Carlos G. Smith (D-49) who like DeSantis, supports Regeneron.
Furthermore, the governor encourages Floridians to battle COVID-19 infection any way they can. Not only is the governor fighting to preserve the monoclonal treatments, but encourages all citizens to receive the vaccine.
