Makki Gains Endorsements from Pinellas Mayors

Share

Amanda Makki (R) is vying for a Congressional seat, and she’s just enlisted endorsements from a number of Pinellas County Mayors. As Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) challenges Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) for office, Makki is one of several contenders that also includes Republican Anna Paulina Luna. In a statement released after the endorsements, Makki thanked the support, adding that it only contributes to stopping “the Democrats and their radical policies.”

Since announcing her candidacy, Makki has committed to ensuring that Republicans take control of the House. In a 2020 primary rematch, Makki criticized Paulina Luna, commenting that President Donald Trump’s (R)endorsement was a result of “bad information.” Though Luna lost her race against Rep. Crist in the 2020 election, Luna is hoping to secure the office this time around, but Makki’s campaign appears to be quickly gaining momentum.

Seminole Mayor Leslie Waters endorsed Makki’s candidacy, saying that “it’s time for a conservative woman to represent Florida’s 13th Congressional district” and adding that “Amanda is the perfect person for it.”

Belleair Shore Mayor Bob Schmidt also expressed his support for Makki, commenting that he wants “someone who will fight for veterans in Washington the way Congressman Bill Young did.” He then explained that “Amanda fits that mold, and I’m confident no one will fight harder for our veterans than her.”

Makki also received endorsements from Madeira Beach Mayor John Hendricks, North Redington Beach Mayor Bill Queen and Redington Beach Mayor David Will, who all praised Makki.

In response to the endorsements, Makki expressed gratitude “for the support our local elected officials who know the type of representative we need to stop the Democrats and their radical policies like amnesty and open borders, embracing socialism, and paying people to sit at home.”

Rep. Crist’s win over Paulina Luna in the 2020 election was one of 89 congressional races that were decided by 10% or less.
