Crist Campaign Adds Lourdes Diaz for Hispanic Outreach

Florida Rep. Charlie Crist (D) is currently challenging Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried (D) in the gubernatorial primaries. Having previously served as Governor of Florida from 2007 to 2011 as a Republican, the Florida lawmaker is now looking to serve once again but this time as a Democrat. Recent polls indicate that Fried is leading Crist, but Crist has dismissed the idea that she’ll come out the victor. In response, the Crist campaign is strategizing to make the most effective effort, and this includes the addition of Lourdes Diaz as Crist’s senior advisor for Hispanic Outreach and Media.

Diaz, who previously worked on the presidential campaigns of President Barack Obama (D) and President Joe Biden (D), is an addition that Crist welcomed with open arms.

“I am excited to welcome Lourdes to our team as we continue in our mission to restore the soul of our state and build a Florida for all across our diverse and vibrant communities,” commented Crist.

“Continuing to be an ally to Hispanic Floridians, fighting disinformation and fear mongering head on, and pushing forward on issues of importance to our Hispanic neighbors, like immigration reform, healthcare, and economic opportunity, is a top priority in our campaign to take back the Governor’s mansion in 2022,” Crist added.

Diaz currently serves as the president of the Pembroke Pines Democratic Club, and she is also a precinct committeewoman in the Broward County community.

After decidedly voting for President Donald Trump (R) in the 2020 election, the addition of Diaz to Crist’s campaign is one he hopes will enlist support from a state that saw an increase in voting for Trump and the GOP.

In response to pundits claiming that Fried will become the nominee in November, Crist assured that he doesn’t “really pay attention to it.” Instead, “I listen to the people, and I see what’s in their eyes, and I know they want help.”
