White House Praises DeSantis, Says he's 'Following the Science" With COVID

Share

There isn’t much love loss between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and President Joe Biden, but the White House needs to be given credit for putting differences aside and commending Gov. DeSantis for his statewide efforts of “following the Science” as he continues to deploy more Monoclonal antibody treatments to those with COVID-19.

In a video interview, White House Senior Policy Advisor Dr. Cameron Webb said that he applauded DeSantis for the antibody.

“I’ll applaud the governor there, that’s following the science because the science is telling us,” said Dr. Webb.

Dr. Webb added that “especially where you are seeing a lot of cases” that patients with mild to moderate cases of COVID are responding to the Monoclonal.

“Indicators show we are at the peak this week and would expect a decline in cases in the next week, but hospitalizations lag behind cases. The deployment of Monoclonal antibody treatments will shorten hospital stays and increase capacity by helping people recover much faster than before,” stated DeSantis Spokeswoman Christine Pushaw.

On Thursday, DeSantis held a press conference in Jacksonville to announce that the state was ramping up the Monoclonal antibody therapies by deploying a “rapid response unit” to help the treatments in the Jacksonville area.

“I am proud to announce the opening of this rapid response unit to offer lifesaving monoclonal antibody therapies for Floridians,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We also look forward to setting up a long-term site at the Jacksonville Public Library and additional long-term sites across the state. These treatments have been proven successful, with clinical trials resulting in a 70% reduction in hospitalization and death for COVID patients.”

Florida has seen a record-breaking surge in new COVID cases over the past couple of weeks
