Poll: Harris Most Unpopular VP in 50 Years

Share

After being assigned the duty of presiding over the ongoing Border Crisis and having some infamous altercations with journalists, Vice President Kamala Harris (D) has had her fair share of gaffes in the past 6 months.  Now, a new poll shows that she is the most unpopular Vice President in 50 years.

The Los Angeles Times on Monday reported that as of July 27, “45% of registered voters had a favorable opinion of Harris and 48% had an unfavorable opinion — a net rating of -3 percentage points, according to a Times average.”

Surprisingly, Harris is less popular than the previous Vice President, VP Mike Pence (R).  Pence at the same time during his time in office in late 2017 had an unfavorability rating of 41.9% and a favorable rating of 42.1%.  However, there could be a legitimate reason for this.

The Daily Wire theorizes that because Pence was essentially a backdrop to the flashy candidate and new-President Trump (R) less focus was on the former Indiana Governor.  But, because Harris has big shoes to fill being the first woman and minority vice president, the expectations from Democrats might have been too high, let alone her performance at the Southern Border that Republicans almost unanimously disapprove of.

In fact, her interview about the Border Crisis with Lestor Holt is seemingly what started Harris' plummet in the polls.  The Daily Wire reports “The dip followed an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt, where Harris bristled at a question about why she had not visited the border, triggering criticism."

Holt had asked Harris if she had “any plans to visit the border,” which received a hostile and odd remark from the vice president.  “At some point, you know, we are going to the border, we’ve been to the border,” Harris said while delivering her now-infamous comment "I haven't been to Europe either."
