Miami Mayor Suarez Says City Continues to Boom Despite Pandemic [VIDEO]

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, whose name is being thrown around as being a potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate, sat down with Tripp/Scott CEO Ed Pozzuoli to talk about the economic and business development uptick the City of Miami has seen since he took office.

Pozzuoli asked Mayor Suarez to discuss how, unlike other states, Florida has been open during the COVID-19 pandemic, and his city has faired as a result of Gov.Ron DeSantis’ decision not to shut down the state.

“We've been open because we understand it and they're two bad scenarios, right?” asked Suarez

“Number one, we always want to protect people won't protect the most vulnerable,” stated Suarez. “But on the other hand, we don’t want to create devastation, economic devastation which hurts a significant amount of people.”

Suarez added that dressed down the “false narrative” that Florida, as a whole, that in the current climate, “you either care about people or you don't care about people,” which he says is not the case.

“We care about people we want to protect people and we care about our businesses, and we care about people are thriving and doing well in our community, so we've allowed them to do that in a safe way and we've come out of the pandemic stronger than ever I mean everyone is talking about Miami tech,” concluded Suarez.

Florida has seen a record amount of infections from the new Delta variant of the virus, and it appears as if those infected are individuals who have not been vaccinated.
