DeSantis: Lockdowns Create "Failing State Economies"

Share

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) was one of the first Governors to announce that his state was fully opening up a few months ago. Although the Governor has received criticism for his response, the Governor has maintained that the Sunshine State will not be undergoing a lockdown as the country experiences a surge in COVID-19 cases. However, in a press release from Friends of Ron DeSantis, the Governor argues that “lockdowns are back” while also warning that they will only create “failing state economies.”

In reference to children going back to school, Governor DeSantis has shared that he does not believe that children should be mandated to wear masks. “We’ve already heard the Biden administration and government bureaucrats like Dr. Fauci say they want to keep your kids as young as 3  years  old in masks, despite what the data and evidence show,” the Governor mentioned in the press release.

Calling it “another ridiculous flip-flop” DeSantis warned that “Fauci and the CDC are scheming to impose mask mandates on adults.” He has also banned the use of vaccine passports in the state.

In response to the threat of another lockdown, DeSantis argued that “the data proves that these lockdowns and mask mandates did NOT work,” the “lockdowns did not better protect our citizens,” and he believes that the lockdown only produced “failing state economies.”

Arguing that Democrats are “coming for your freedom again,” he commented that “Democrat-run states continue to struggle even today in their economic recovery” while the state of Florida has “just experienced its 14th consecutive month of job growth.”

Making a distinction between himself and Democrats, DeSantis called Democrats “globalists who refuse to hold China accountable,” adding that “they want to control you and if we don’t stand strong now, who knows what they’ll try to take away next.”
