State Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R) has just filed E-Verify legislation that would mandate that all Florida businesses verify that the workers they seek to hire pass must first prove “they are legal” to work.
According to Rep. Sabatini, his Verification of Employment Eligibility by a Private Employer (HB 6001) measure will “mandate the use of E-Verify” by all private businesses in the state.
Here is how the bill reads:
Removes options for private employer to verify person’s employment eligibility using specified federal form; removes requirement eligibility using specified federal form; removes requirement that private employer maintain records for specified length of time; removes authorization for certain persons & entities to request & requirement that private employer provide; documentation relating to person’s employment eligibility.
During is a recent visit to Del Rio, Texas to oversee the Florida law enforcement officers he sent to help secure the border, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis divulged that the overwhelming majority of the illegal aliens crossing the U.S. southern border were making their way to Florida.
Sabatini echoed Gov. DeSantis's claim, stating that because “70% of all new illegals coming straight to Florida,” his immigration bill needed to be passed and signed into law.
Sabatini is also running for Congress against Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D) in Florida’s 7th congressional district. Rep. Murphy's seat, along with Rep, Charlie Crist's, are both considered vulnerable and could flip next year as Democrats are expected to lose their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
