The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have answered the call for help after the building collapse in the predominantly Jewish community of Surfside, Florida, where 9 have been confirmed dead and another 156 still unaccounted for.
After a video plea by a mother of one of the presumed missing occupants of the building asked that the Israeli government send the Israeli Defense Forces Search & Rescue team, which is accustomed to searching for victims after building collapses as a result of terrorist attacks in their country, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Defense Minister Benjamin Gantz to offer his thanks for sending the team to assist in the rescue efforts.
Gov. DeSantis confirmed that the team arrived on the scene this morning.
Late last night, the IDF announced that they would be sending the team to “assist in the rescue efforts and care for those affected by the Miami disaster.
“The IDF is ready to respond, act and assist in the effort to save lives and support our allies,” tweeted the IDF
The team is comprised of “10 Home Front Command officers, including the Commander of the unit, Reservist Golan Vach.
Agriculture Commissioner and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried posted a tweet an image of the IDF Home Front Command preparing to start looking for survivors.
