Desantis Announces Victory Over 'No Sail Orders'

Share

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has declared victory over the CDC, arguing that it “has arbitrarily crippled our cruise industry for over a year.” The Governor, who’s firmly stood against vaccine passports in the Sunshine State, released an email to supporters today announcing that “a federal judge sided with Florida and stopped the CDC from enforcing its unconstitutional No Sail Orders."

In the email, the Governor praised the judge’s order, noting that “now the cruise industry will be able to set sail without the onerous restrictions imposed by the CDC that stripped Floridians of their freedom.”

For several months, the Governor has assured that he will do everything in his power to implement a sense of normalcy again in Florida. One of those measures was to ban the need for vaccine passports, which caused national headlines over whether or not states should require them. With the announcement, DeSantis highlighted that “the decision blocks the CDC’s attempt to impose vaccine passports via the regulatory backdoor!”

The battle between cruise lines and the Governor lasted for some months. Critics hypothesized that cruise lines would move to other states for operation, but it appears that cruise lines will be staying in place.

“The CDC and Biden administration placed burdensome limitations that made it impossible for the cruise industry to effective operate,” said Governor DeSantis in his message. “That is no longer the case following the court’s decision, and I am pleased to have the cruise industry now join the rest of Florida in being open for business,” DeSantis added.

He shared that the Sunshine State “will continue to follow the data and science without engaging in the type of political theater demonstrated by the CDC,” adding that Florida has “stood up against government overreach throughout the pandemic and this court victory was another key step in our defense of freedom.”
