Democrat Hardy Accepts Corporate Donations, but Bashes Republicans for Doing the Same

Florida State Rep. Omari Hardy (D), a Democrat who is running for the U.S. Congress in Florida's 20th congressional district, is an "unapologetic progressive" who has championed the "woke" culture, embraces all of the tenets of the current Democratic socialist agenda, and also appears to hold the line against corporate donations made to Republicans.

In a recent tweet, Rep. Hardy admonishes Republicans, accusing them of wanting Americans to get back to work and not continue to collect state and federal subsidies, and alleging that "Republicans (and their corporate donors) are mad that folks don't want to work and still be poor."

"Folks can be poor without working. But Republicans (and their corporate donors) are mad that folks don't want to work and still be poor," stated Hardy.

Hardy clearly shows disdain for Republicans who receive corporate donations but fails to state his disapproval for Democrats like himself,  who also receive corporate donations.

According to the Florida Division of Elections, Hardy has received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from political action committees and corporations.

Some of the corporations that have donated to Hardy are some of the most prominent big businesses in Florida like Publix Supermarkets, Comcast, Nextera Energy, Disney, and NBCUniversal,  to smaller companies like CPZ Architects and the Palm Beach Kennel Club,  not to mention lobby firms like Becker & Poliakoff, Gray Robinson, Gunster, and Akerman.

It is not illegal to receive campaign donations at the state and municipal levels, but not at the federal levels. Federal law prohibits congressional candidates from receiving donations from any form of corporation. Hardy's first federal filings will not be released until after June 30th.

Hardy, who could not be reached for comment,  is running for congress to replace the late Rep. Alcee Hastings (D) who passed away earlier this year. Broward County Commissioners Dale Holness and Barbara Sharief, Rep. Bobby Dubose, and State Senator Percy Thurston are several of the declared candidates vying to become the next member of Congress from South Florida.
