Jason Holloway Launches House District 67 bid

Share

Florida Rep. Chris Latvala (R), who is term-limited, announced that he would not be running for reelection. Therefore, he is vacating the seat, and it appears that Florida House District 67 has its first GOP member that plans to be the district’s next representative. Jason Holloway (R) announced his candidacy, and with that he also announced a number of high-profile endorsements that are backing his path to the Florida House. Holloway formerly served as a legislative aide for state Senator Darryl Rouson (D), and political commentators expect him to appeal to both sides of the political aisle.

In conjunction with the news of his campaign kick-off event, Holloway released that he was endorsed by North Carolina Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R). As well, back in February, Holloway gained the endorsements of state Senator and Florida GOP Chair Joe Gruters (R), former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker (R), St. Petersburg City Council member Robert Blackmon (R) and former Florida Rep. Larry Ahern (R) and his wife Maureen Ahern (R).

In a statement, Gruters called Holloway “the best choice for House District 67,” expressing that Holloway “will be a champion for small businesses, work to keep our taxes low, and fight for our conservative values.” Gruters also added that “Jason has already shown strong leadership and an innovative mindset for solving our state’s issues on the Florida Blockchain Taskforce and will continue to bring solutions to the table in the Florida House.”

During a recent interview, Holloway explained that. His campaign will run on three important topics, which are environmental stewardship, ensuring transparency and accountability regarding government contracts, and increasing the technology footprint in the Sunshine State.

Although former Florida Rep. Kim Berfield (R) has not announced her own candidacy, Berfield is also expected to launch a campaign run for the House seat.
