Over the weekend, Florida Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R) launched a verbal jab at Florida Rep. Anna V. Eskamani (D), who has hinted that she might make a gubernatorial run in 2021. The Florida Democrat has been a heavy critic of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), and Sabatini is now calling Eskamani a “total fraud,” signaling that she is a “FAKE populist” whose vote does not correlate with the political ideology she professes to believe in.
On Twitter, Sabatini, who is a self-proclaimed staunch conservative, took issue with two recent votes that Rep. Eskamani has cast. “In the last week, she voted for HB 6093, removing the obligation of hospitals to prove that they provide charity care before they receive tax-exempt status,” he informed, adding that Eskamani also voted for “HB 257, extending corporate welfare for private hospitals.”
In early March, Sabatini announced that he would be running for the U.S. Congress, while Eskamani has not yet announced whether she will challenge Governor DeSantis in the 2022 midterm election.
However, she did criticize the Governor for signing HB1 into law, urging her followers that “if you’re feeling disappointed, scared, or sad,” then they should “remember that you’re not alone” because “election laws can be repealed” and “politicians can be replaced.”
