Ever since President Donald Trump took office, the GOP has adopted an America First foreign policy agenda, and even though there is a new president in the White House, Rep. Brian Mast (R-18) has channeled Sen. Rand Paul (R) and is now calling for the withdrawal all foreign aid.
When asked about the recent spending proposals from President Biden's (D) agenda by a local South Florida TV station, Mast compared the corporate tax rate hike to that of China, claiming it would make the US, "non-competitive."
Mast also brought up in his interview that many people wonder where the money comes from to pay for government proposals, where he claims we, "have to look for those offsets. Where can we take dollars out of something and put it into that [Biden proposed] infrastructure."
Mast then answered where he would pull the money from with a resounding, "Foreign spending, like what I criticized in the COVID Bill, dollars that go overseas."
After his interview, Mast typed up a summary on his Twitter on Monday night, proposing, "Instead of increasing taxes on Americans to pay for new infrastructure, we should stop sending our money to other countries!":
Although a Conservative talking point, Mast could indirectly have the support of the middle man, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), who has voiced a lot of grievances with Biden's economic policies so far.
Manchin made headlines recently for reining in other Democrats on wasteful spending, claiming that, "This whole thing here has to change", on Biden's corporate tax hike.
