A recent poll conducted by St. Pete Poll shows Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried tied with Governor Ron DeSantis in a head-to-head hypothetical contest for governor in 2022. While Fried and her Democratic political consultants are bragging about the poll results, how credible is the poll considering the close ties the polling company has with the progressive blog Florida Politics and its ethically-challenged and accused pay-for-play editor, Peter Schorsch?
So who commissioned the poll?
According to the Florida Politics story about the poll results written by progressive blogger Jacob Ogles, the poll was “commissioned exclusively for Florida Politics.
But in a follow-up story by the controversial and left-leaning blog, `Scott Powers writes that the poll was “commissioned by Florida Politics” and not “commissioned exclusively for” the blog.
Powers writes that Commissioner Fried’s political committee, Florida Consumers First, has been using the poll to fundraise for a probable gubernatorial run that will most likely be launched shortly after the 2021 legislative session concludes in May.
So, which it? Is the poll commissioned by the Florida Politics blog, or is it commissioned for the blog?
Again, who really commissioned the poll?
Schorsch, whose appetite for cookies is almost as ferocious as his disdain for Gov. DeSantis, was quick to defend the poll that his friends at Florida Consumers First have been promoting.
Why wouldn’t he promote the poll? They pay him.
Wait, could Fried’s Florida Consumers First have commissioned the poll?
According to Florida’s Division of Elections, Schorsch’s Extensive Enterprise company was recently paid by Florida Consumers First for “marketing.”
Can the argument be made that Schorsch’s effort to set a positive narrative for Fried against DeSantis is paid for by Fried herself?
