Scott Directs Letter Disavowing GOP "Civil War"

Share

Since the storming of the Capitol earlier this year, Republicans have faced infighting regarding whether or not President Donald Trump (R) is responsible for inciting the riot that took place. Consequently, the President was impeached, and a trial was held to convict him, which resulted in an acquittal of the former President. As the Republican party focuses on rebranding and restructuring the party and its platform for the upcoming 2022 midterm election, Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) is vowing that there is no GOP "Civil War," and he is committed to seeing the party move on.

Senator Scott is the Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and he directed a memo to members of the GOP. In the two-page letter, the former Governor of Florida argued that members need to set aside any differences regarding President Trump in an effort to ensure that Republicans begin to gain control in 2022.

“The long running impeachment show is now over,” said Scott, adding that “this political theater should have been held at the other end of Washington in the Kennedy Center instead of the US Capitol.” Calling it an “unserious circus,” Scott admitted that “it’s over” and “now it’s time to look ahead.”

Tasked with the goal of making sure that Republicans win back the Senate, Scott noted that Democrats “control Washington” because they “control the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives.”

He worries of what the future has in store because Democrats are focused on things including “cutting border security, granting amnesty to illegals, cancelling the Keystone pipeline destroying thousands of jobs.”

With that in mind, Scott affirmed that “those fanning these flames, in both the media and our own ranks, desire a GOP civil war.”

Instead, he wishes for GOP members and its leadership to steer ahead, commenting that “the hour is late, the Democrats are planning to destroy our freedoms, and the threat in front of us is very real.”
