Biden Authorizes Air Strikes in Syria

Share

Yesterday, the Department of Defense confirmed that the U.S. conducted an airstrike on Syria on Thursday by order of President Joe Biden (D).

This strike would be the first military action for the Biden Administration.  The decision is being credited to the recent Iranian airstrike that killed one American contractor last week.

Biden's attack was more strategic as the target was a facility commonly used by Iranian-backed militant groups.

What has been interesting is the political backlash it carries here in the U.S.  Just as President Donald Trump (R) became Commander-In-Chief 4 years ago, Democrats sobbed over his use of Tomahawk missiles against the Assad Regime, after the dictator used chemical weapons on innocent people.

Nevertheless, the attacks are defensive and serve as a perfect reminder that America will not be pushed around, even abroad.

Representative Stephany Murphy (D-FL), voiced on Twitter that she believes the military action to be, "justified" while offering her take on the daunting Iran situation, "I've long been concerned about Iran's role in Syria." Claimed Murphy, she adds, "Congress passed my measure requiring the intelligence community to report on how Iran's efforts to establish influence in Syria threaten U.S. interests and allies, including Israel."

The Pentagon Press Secretary after the attack clarified the message in a statement:

"The proportionate military response was conducted together with diplomatic measures, including consultation with Coalition partners.  The operation sends an unambiguous message: President Biden will act to protect American and Coalition personnel.  At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to de-escelate the overall situation in both eastern-Syria and Iraq."

Although we do not know how Iran may respond, one thing is for certain.  Joe Biden, if consistent, has the chance to prove that he can handle terror states like Iran as harshly as Trump did in his administration.
