Since the storming of the Capitol, a number of Republicans have denounced the President, arguing that he is at fault for what happened. This resulted in a number of Cabinet members quitting their posts, including Chad Wolf, the Acting Homeland Security Secretary (DHS).
The resignation comes after Democrats have filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump (R), but Democrats are also asserting that members of his Cabinet are to blame for the storming of the Capitol that took place last Wednesday.
On Twitter, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D), a strong critic of the Trump administration, voiced her condemnation of Secretary Wolf, calling him a “white supremacist Trump stooge” that “never had any respect for the law or human rights.”
The Florida Democrat also expressed that “five federal courts ruled that Chad Wolf unlawfully served as DHS head,” noting that “due to these rulings & his disgusting cruelty towards immigrants, he was never a legitimate leader.”
In short, commenting on his departure, Wasserman Schultz said “good riddance.”
In making the announcement that he would be stepping down from his position, Wolf commented that he was “saddened to take this step, as it was my intention to serve the Department until the end of this Administration.”
However, because of his work as Acting Secretary, Wolf said that he was proud of the work done because “the Homeland is safer and more secure because of your efforts,” referring to President Trump.
