Rick Wilson, the Democratic Party's Confederate Flag Guy

Share

If there is one term to best describe The Lincoln Project and its founders like Floridian Rick Wilson, it’s disingenuous.

Long-time Republican Frederick George Wilson, aka Rick Wilson, was a friend to many Florida Republicans and a devout GOP strategist who wore his disdain for liberal Democrats on his sleeve.

So what happened to good ole Rick? Why did he really leave the GOP to support Progressive Democrats like Joe Biden? Or did he really leave the Republican Party?

Wilson's detractor say it was money, that he sold his soul to the Almighty Dollar.

Yeah, we all know about his financial woes in the years leading up to his founding of the ‘NeverTrumper” group, and of the very, very short list of clients he’s had over the years.

Remember that Wilson founded The Lincoln Project, which in the past promoted themselves as “a group of prominent Republicans,” after President Donald Trump took office.

Well, he started it up in 2019, to be exact.

Wilson and his project were strictly focused on defeating President Trump and any Republican remotely associated with the former president.

“The Lincoln Project is holding accountable those who would violate their oaths to the Constitution and would put others before Americans.”-website

It’s interesting to note that as late as December 7, 2020, Wilson and company still referred to themselves as “prominent Republicans.”

Fast-forward a month to January 22, 2021, and Wilson changed the description of his group to “a group of former Republicans who worked to defeat Donald J. Trump’s reelection.”

Well, this is where the disingenuousness comes in. While Wilson states that he is a former Republican, Florida voting records show that he is still registered as a Republican in Leon County, Florida.

According to the Leon County Clerk of Courts, Wilson’s home address is listed on several active and inactive court filings and matches up to the state’s voter registration records.

Wait, and then there is the little issue of The Lincoln Project referring to President Trump as being a ‘racist’ and/or encourages racists and racism.

Rick Wilson is not a racist, at least I don’t believe he is, but when he has “The South will rise again” draped over his Confederate flag cooler, who wouldn’t believe that he may have the very same mindset that Trump is accused of having?

The Progressive media and its allies are mum on Wilson’s coveted cooler.

Can you imagine if Trump had this cooler?

Apparently, Wilson’s support for the “Old South” confederacy is acceptable for the Democratic Party, but whenever an apparent Trump supporter waives the Confederate Flag, that individual is labeled a white supremacist.

Is it fair to call Wilson a white supremacist?

Or, because he denounced Trump, is he given a pass for promoting a flag the Anti-Defamation League calls “a symbol of Southern heritage” that also serves “as a potent symbol of slavery and white supremacy, which has caused it to be very popular among white supremacists in the 20th and 21st centuries?”
