State Rep. Lauren Book (D) is outraged over the arrest of a well-known Broward County pediatrician's on child pornography charges. Like most Americans, anyone arrested for child pornography is enough to make them cringe, but to Book, the doctor in question was her children's doctor.
Sen. Book, who herself was a victim of child molestation and has been the leading voice in Florida in bringing awareness to the exploitation of children, stated that she was "caught off guard."
"This was my children’s pediatrician," tweeted Book. "I had no idea. No alarm bells went off. Nothing. Let this serve as a warning — ANYONE can be a predator, regardless of profession, level of education, interpersonal skills, zip code, etc. If I can be caught off guard, anyone can."
According to Local 10 News in Fort Lauderdale, the evidence the Broward Sheriff's office found in Dr. Michael Mizrachy's possession and online accounts were photos of child pornography of kids between the ages of 10-15 and were friends of his daughter.
Deputies said those victims were friends with his daughter.
"Investigators also said he was sending and receiving inappropriate photos and communicating with a 15-year-old," stated the report.
