Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is fuming mad over the Republican-led U.S. Senate’s cramming through of “Trump’s lame duck judges,” namely Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, instead of passing COVID relief funding for Americans.

"26 million Americans go hungry, and all the Senate will do is buck precedent and cram through Trump's lame duck judges," tweeted Rep. Wasserman Schultz. "Tell @SenateMajLdr McConnell to get back to DC and pass #COVID relief now!"

Senate Republicans have rejected the most recent House virus relief spending bills because of the non-COVID-related items that have been inserted to be funded.

Republicans have been pushing for a smaller, leaner pandemic recovery stimulus bill, but Pelosi and House Democrats are refusing to come down from their initial $3 trillion spending measure.

“I think it reinforces the argument that I’ve been making for the last few months, that something smaller – rather than throwing another $3 trillion at this issue – is more appropriate,” said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, according to Reuters.

Just as he did with the DACA immigration problem, Trump has called on House Democrats to send him a ‘clean’ and COVID-only stimulus bill that he could sign into law, but Pelosi has refused and continues to press what Republicans call a “wish list” coronavirus stimulus measure.

Now that the presidential election is over, and former Vice President Joe Biden appears to have defeated Trump,  Democrats could be open to renegotiate with Republicans and lean out their spending bill. New negotiations and a possible agreement could come within weeks, sources say.
