USA Today Endorses Biden for President

In a move that’s being criticized for obstructing the objectivity of journalism, USA Today has announced that it is officially endorsing Vice President Joe Biden (D) for the presidency.

This comes directly after Rolling Stone magazine made its own announcement that it was backing Biden for the presidency.

In the news source’s first presidential endorsement, USA Today informed that, according to polling, around 90% of the nation’s voters have already made up their mind regarding who they will vote for. Addressing the 10% of voters that might find themselves undecided and leaning towards voting for President Trump (R), USA Today said that “maybe you liked [Trump’s] populist, anti-elitist message,” or “maybe you couldn’t stomach the idea of supporting a Democrat as polarizing as Clinton,” or “maybe you cast a ballot for a minor party candidate, or just stayed home.”

Considering that there are “two weeks until Election Day, we suggest you consider a variation of the question Republican Ronald Reagan asked voters when he ran for president in 1980: Is America better off now than it was four years ago?”

USA Today concluded that “while some said they were personally better off, most of those willing to talk on camera expressed anguish and dismay about the nation’s direction.”

As well, they questioned whether or not the endorsement would have a negative effect on the editorial, admitting that they don’t believe it will. They also questioned if it would “cause the Editorial Board to pull its punches if Biden were to become president?” before concluded that they wouldn’t hold back from fact-checking Biden should he win the election on November 3^rd.

In turn, the editorial reflected that “we may never endorse a presidential nominee again,” and it hopes “we’ll never have to.”

The endorsement comes as national polls show that the former Vice President is polling ahead of President Trump, and it also comes ahead of the last presidential debate that’s scheduled to take place this Thursday at 9pm. However, a recent Gallup Party Affiliation poll indicated that Biden is polling lower than Secretary Hillary Clinton (D) was at this time, and Republicans are “+1” in terms of registered voters in ahead of this election. Moreover, Biden’s campaign manager has warned that, regardless of what the polls indicate, the race is “a lot closer.”
