Congressional Democrats, including Florida Rep. Ted Deutch, have sharpened their focus on Senator Marco Rubio (R) over President Trump's Supreme Court pick, Judge. Amy Coney Barrett.
Democrats are calling Rubio a hypocrite for pushing to confirm Judge Barrett before the November 3rd election, using his own words against him over voting to confirm a Supreme Court justice during an election year.
Rep. Deutch, who is said to be considering a Senate run against Rubio in 2022, retweeted House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer's tweet where he called Rubio's past thoughts on confirming Justice to the Supreme Court during an election year, "blatant hypocrisy."
"Marco Rubio claimed that even if it was a Republican President, he would not support confirming a Supreme Court Justice in an election year. Instead, he and his colleagues are demonstrating their blatant hypocrisy and denying the American people a voice," stated Hoyer.
Hoyer is referring to Rubio's March 17, 2016 statement where Rubio said that regardless of whether the president was Republican, he didn't think the Senate "should be moving on a nominee."
Rubio has recently said that would support Trump's nominee to replace the late-Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Republicans have the votes to confirm Judge Barrett, but Democrats are not going down with a fight, and have vowed to use every procedural tool at their disposal to slow down the confirmation process, which will come to an end with an up or down vote next week.
