Trump signs "Born Alive" executive order to protect babies

Share

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that mandates the Health and Human Services Department make certain that all federally-funded healthcare clinics or other facilities give medical care to babies that survive late-term abortions or are "born alive."

"Every infant born alive, no matter the circumstances of his or her birth, has the same dignity and the same rights as every other individual and is entitled to the same protections under federal law," stated the executive edict.

In 2019, when Senate Democrats expressed their support for “infanticide” or the killing of newborn babies, President Trump tweeted his opposition and disgust towards congressional Democrats for voting against the Born Alive legislation.

Now with the president set to nominate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court, the stage is set for a huge election year brawl on the issue of Abortion.

Democrats have already stated that they would not support Judge Barrett, not just because she's Trump nominee to replace Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but because she is a devout pro-life Catholic.

Earlier this year, many of these same outspoken House Democrats voted against a motion to recommit(MTR) the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act, a measure that would penalize doctors who refuse to give life-saving care to babies that survive an abortion.

Every member of Florida’s Democratic congressional delegation —Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Donna Shalala, Lois Frankel, Ted Deutch, Kathy Castor, Frederica Wilson, Stephanie Murphy, Al Lawson, Charlie Crist, Darren Soto, Val Demings, and Alcee Hastings —voted against the Born Alive Survivors Act.

It's no surprise that Florida House Republicans voted against infantized, but Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R), one of the staunchest pro-life supporters in congress, cosponsored the 2019 House Born Alive bill that his Democrat colleagues voted against. Rep. Bilirakis wears his 0% rating from the pro-late term abortion group Naral as a bad of honor.

Judge Barrett’s confirmation hearings in the Senate are expected to commence witin two weeks.
