A new ABC/Washington Post poll shows that President Donald Trump leads Vice President Joe Biden in Florida 51-47 percent among likely voters, putting the two candidates in a virtual tie among voters in the state.
This cannot be welcome news for the Biden campaign who had been touting their expansive campaign efforts in Florida and around the country.
Yes, Florida is the ultimate swing state and we can always expect a close election, but the one voting Demographic that Biden is really sinking with are Hispanics.
Recent polling showing Trump surging among Hispanics and Latino is accurate. Hillary Clinton was able to garner 27 percent of the Hispanic vote in 2016, but according to the ABC poll, Biden has a mere 13 percent support from the highly coveted voting bloc.
Trump won the state in 2016 by less than 2 percentage points with less support from the Hispanic community, so if these numbers hold through election day, Trump could win Florida by a bare minimum of 5 percentage points or more.
Team Biden has a lot to worry about, and if it continues to press it's current Peso politics approach of pandering to Hispanics, it will be a very long night for the former vice president.
In looking at the poll, the one issue that Americans are concerned with is the economy, and when asked who they trust the most with helping their economic concerns, Trump comes out on top.
Important issues like Healthcare and racial equality, two issues that Biden has focused on, poll at the very bottom of concerning issues for Floridians.
Again, advantage Trump.
