Rubio Calls on "Reasonable Dems" in COVID-19 Talks

With the Senate leaving until September, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) detailed what’s next for the Senate as Americans wait for another COVID-19 relief package.

In a statement, McConnell expressed that the Senate “will have our regular pro forma meetings through the end of the state work period,” adding that “if the Speaker of the House and the minority leader of the Senate decide to finally let another package move forward… it would take bipartisan consent to meet for legislative business sooner than scheduled.”

Taking to Twitter to voice his frustration at the lack of bipartisanship that has transpired, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) shared that “after rejecting every reasonable proposal we have made it’s obvious Democrat leaders believe the more Americans suffer from the impact of the pandemic the more it helps them in November.” Moreover, Rubio pleaded for “our more reasonable Dem colleagues will weigh in with Speaker Pelosi & Senator Schumer.”

In recent weeks, both sides of the aisle have claimed that the other side is using the pandemic to play partisan politics, which ultimately led to President Trump (R) signing a number of executive orders to provide COVID-19 relief for Americans.
