Pelosi Calls Trump, GOP Allies Domestic ‘Enemies of the State’

Speaker Nancy Pelosi continued her barrage of attacks toward President Trump and GOP lawmakers, labeling them as “domestic enemies” and “enemies of the state” over their opposition to universal mail-in voting.

“We take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. And, sadly, the domestic enemies to our voting system and honoring our Constitution are right at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with their allies in the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi said in an appearance on on “MSNBC Live” with host Ayman Mohyeldin Monday afternoon.

The host appeared shocked with Pelosi’s rant response and was overheard saying “wow!”

“They’re doing everything they can, suppress the vote with your actions, scare people, intimidate by saying law enforcement will be there, diminish the role of the postal system in all of this. It’s really actually shameful. Enemies of the state,” Pelosi added.

During her appearance, Pelosi was questioned on a new MSNBC News-Wall Street Journal poll that shows only 45 percent of Americans “are confident in the results of the election being accurately counted.” Mohyeldin asked the speaker, “Can you tell people today that they should not be afraid of what happens on November 3rd?”

Pelosi started by telling MSNBC viewers to “not pay attention to Donald Trump” because “it’s his goal to scare people from voting,” while accusing the President of welcoming “Russian intervention” so the Russian president Vladimir Putin will “decide who will be President” not the American people.

“One thing I will say to the American people: do not pay attention to Donald Trump,” Pelosi said. “It is his goal to scare people from voting, to intimidate them by saying he’s going to have law enforcement people at the polls. To welcome, in fact, Russian intervention, letting Putin decide who will be President instead of the American people.”

She went by chastising Republicans for “enabling” Trump to “suppress the vote.”

“But ignore him, because his purpose is to diminish the vote, to suppress the vote.  And shame on the Republicans for enabling that to happen, for enabling that to happen,” Pelosi said. “And people are right to be concerned because the President of the United States is saying what he’s saying.  But don’t pay any attention to him.  Because that’s just a victory for those who want a lower turnout so that fewer people are engaged in the decision.”

Several GOP lawmakers took to Twitter shortly to call out Pelosi for her remarks.

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) called Pelosi comments “Disgusting,” pointing to how he was shot by an angry progressive activist back in 2017 for this kind of “unhinged rhetoric” and asked where is the “media outrage” on this dangerous remark.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in a tweet compared Pelosi calling Republicans “domestic enemies” to 2016 when Hillary Clinton infamously called Republicans “Deplorables,” saying Democrats “despise” Republicans and aren’t afraid to “hide it.”
