Yoho Accused of Calling AOC a "F**king B**ch" on Capitol Hill

Florida Rep. Ted Yoho (R), who is not seeking a reelection bid in the upcoming election, got into a heated exchange with New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D).

The Florida lawmaker is accused of calling the New York lawmaker a “f**king b**ch” as he walked away from the encounter, and Yoho’s office has since clarified that he did not make such comment. Instead, his office argues that he “made a brief comment to himself as he walked away summarizing what he believes her policies to be: bullsh*t.”

The incident began when Rep. Yoho is alleged to have walked up to Rep. Cortez, questioning her about unemployment and the crime rate in New York City.

In a tweet, the New York lawmaker shared her experience with the encounter, writing that she had never talked “to Rep. Yoho before he decided to accost me on the steps of the nation’s Capitol yesterday.” She added, “believe it or not, I usually get along fine w/my GOP colleagues.”

She expressed that “we know how to check our legislative sparring at the committee door. But, her, ‘b*tches’ get stuff done.”

In response to the exchange between the lawmakers, Rep. Yoho’s communications director issued a statement to CNN, arguing that the Florida lawmaker “did not call Rep. Ocasio-Cortez what has been reported in the Hill or any name for that matter.” In addition, he said that “it sounds better for the Hill newspaper and gets more media attention to say he called her a name – which he did not do.” He concluded by noting that “it is unfortunate that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is using this exchange to gain personal attention.”

Rep. Yoho has not directly commented on the encounter on Capitol Hill.
