Sen. Marco Rubio
As former Vice President Joe Biden (D) appears to surge in the polls, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) has taken to Twitter to slam the Obama administration over its alleged inaction when it came to holding Venezuela accountable.
“When I began to deman sanctions on #MaduroRegime back in 2014 the Obama/Biden administration fought me every step of the way,” argued the Florida lawmaker. He added, “it took over two years to get them to do anything at all.”
Other Florida lawmakers have also joined Rubio in criticizing the former Vice President.
Florida Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R) launched comments at Biden last month, saying that "Biden's dangerous & irresponsible policy would legitimize the Cuban dictatorship & weaken sanctions on the very regime that sends thousands of intelligence agents & other means of support to the Maduro regime."
In Florida, exiles from communist countries have been vocal over Venezuelan politics, so the United States' relationship with communist countries like Cuba and Venezuela have been part of the political arena in the sunshine state. With the upcoming 2020 presidential election, both Biden and Trump have tried to answer Floridians' concerns regarding the matter.
