With Ted Yoho (R) making the decision to not seek a congressional reelection, Republican Todd Chase is looking to replace Yoho by using a recent endorsement to propel him to victory.

Today, the Gainesville Fraternal Order of Police announced that it was endorsing the Navy Veteran, commenting that “as a Navy pilot and commander, Todd Chase spent a good part of his life in uniform, protecting the rights of our citizens and country.”

The statement was issued by Sgt. Sheldon McKinzie, the President of the Gainesville Fraternal Order of Police, who also noted that Chase has “done the same here at home, by supporting local law enforcement, men and women who like him are willing to put their lives on the line for others.” McKinzie concluded by noting that “Todd Chase has earned our endorsement, and the chance to serve us again.”

In response, Chase praised McKinzie and the police, saying that he “was proud to support these brave men and women during my six years on the Gainesville City Commission and I will fight hard as a member of Congress to strongly back law enforcement throughout Florida’s 3rd District and across our Nation.” He added that “these men and women know me well, and I clearly understand the dedication and sacrifice they bring to the job of keeping our community safe.”

Chase finally asserted that “this is not an endorsement built on false promises and political calculation, but one built on mutual respect and appreciation forged over years of serving alongside each other.”

Aside from the previously mentioned endorsement, Chase has also received endorsements from Florida State Senators Keith Petty and Aaron Bean, former Alachua County Commissioner Susan Baird and former Gainesville City Commissioner Craig Carter.
