DeSantis Throwing Students to the "Wolves"?

Share

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) held a press briefing today to inform Floridians on the continued approach that his administration is taking to combat the skyrocketing coronavirus cases that the sunshine state is experiencing.

“I do not think we should be swept up in fear,” he argued in the briefing, assuring that his administration is closely monitoring the testing results in order to make sure that the state continues to reopen.

The Governor was also questioned on his views over whether or not children should return to in-person classes, and he shared that it should be up to the states and the parents of those children. For him, “the system learning is not the same” to taking an in-person class.

“We have to do whatever we can to meet that,” he explained when referring to parents that want their children back in school. “I do not want people falling behind,” DeSantis expressed when it comes to students’ academics.

This comes at a time when Democrats are focusing on battleground states like Florida, and they have released an advertisement called “Wolves,” which tells Americans that the Trump administration threw older Americans to the wolves when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the advertisement, the narrator comments that “tens of thousands of older Americans dead,” saying that Trump “rushed to re-open America to help his own re-election.”

Ultimately, the advertisement concludes that “cases exploding. Death toll rising. Hitting older Americans the hardest. Trump. Throwing America to the wolves.”

The advertisement is also scheduled to run in Texas, which is a battleground state that Democrats believe they have a chance at winning in the upcoming 2020 election.

In contrast, Governor DeSantis is assuring that the state of Florida is taking the proper measure to ensure that Floridians stay safe and that the state’s economy is not hurt in the process of completely opening up.
