Diaz-Balart Responds to SCOTUS Dreamers Decision

Share

The Supreme Court has just ruled to extend a lifeline to the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood program, which is a program that permits an estimated 650,000 Dreamers to legally stay and work in the United States.

In a statement, Florida Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R), commented that he was “pleased that the individuals who benefit from DACA are still protected, but as I’ve repeatedly said, both sides have been playing politics for far too long on this issue, and it’s time to come up with a permanent solution for those who are here at no fault of their own.”

The Florida lawmaker reaffirmed his “willingness to work with anyone and everyone on a bipartisan, bicameral solution that provides a path toward permanence, while also adhering to the rule of law.”

He concluded that DREAMERS, who are here at no fault of their own, and have not violated US laws, deserve to be here legally, freely, and with certainty.”

The President has instead gone on Twitter to voice his disagreement with the decision made by the Supreme Court. Questioning their decision on the matter, the President asked, "do you get the impression that the Supreme Court doesn't like me?"
