Biden hypocritically questions Trump over Maduro, forgets he met with the dictator

Share

Vice president Joe Biden may have had one of his biggest senior moments yet when he attacked President Donald Trump for stating in an interview that he would be open to meeting with Venezuelan Dictator Nicholas Maduro, forgetting that he had previously hugged it out with the Venezuelan drug overlord.

“He doesn’t think that Maduro is that bad of a guy?” Biden told donors on a virtual fundraiser.  “He’s not really a dictator or something to that effect. Good Lord.”

“Good Lord” is right, but not to what Trump said, but to the forgetfulness or overt hypocrisy that Biden just showed.

What do they say about a picture and a thousand words?

This picture of Biden meeting Maduro in Brazil says it all.

After Biden and Democrats pushed back against his remarks, Trump quickly reasserted his stance on the “Maduro regime” via what else, a tweet.

“Unlike the radical left, I will ALWAYS stand against socialism and with the people of Venezuela. My Admin has always stood on the side of FREEDOM and LIBERTY and against the oppressive Maduro regime! I would only meet with Maduro to discuss one thing: a peaceful exit from power!

Trump’s tweet was met with a statement from Senator Marco Rubio (R), who stated that the criticism directed at Trump by Biden and Democrats was ‘ridiculous” after they “blocked, opposed & criticized sanctions for years & had no problem with Obama meeting a Raul Castro who keeps Maduro in power.”

Ouch.

The Biden-Maduro Samba

During their encounter in Brazil, Maduro appeared very friendly with Biden, but Maduro said that when he met with Biden it was over respect that his country demanded of the U.S.

"I have demanded this time what we had demanded from the US 1,000 times before: a relationship based on respect, nothing else," said Mr Maduro.

"We have a government in Venezuela that complies with international law and is appreciated and supported by the whole continent," Mr Maduro told journalists. Maduro then asserted, “there is room for everyone in Latin America, and the Americans must understand that.”

Oh, the U.S. understands that there is room for anyone in Latin America except for a drug dealing criminal dictator like Maduro.

Fast forward four years to 2019, to a Democratic presidential primary debate where the issue of Venezuela came up once again for Biden.

“By the way, in Venezuela, we should be allowing people to come here from Venezuela,” Biden said. “I know Maduro. I’ve confronted Maduro.“

Trump’s re-election team quickly pounced on Biden’s confronting Biden remark

Joe Biden just claimed he "confronted" Maduro. This ... doesn't look like a confrontation. #DemDebate”- Team Trump
