List of Florida's most bipartisan and partisan members of Congress

Share

The non-partisan Lugar Center has just released its annual bipartisan index that ranks members of the U.S. Congress as it pertains to bill sponsorship and co-sponsorship.

The index measures how often the member co-sponsors a bill filed by the opposite party, and “how often that member's bills attract co-sponsors from the other side of the aisle.”

Lawmakers who score above zero are considered to have a good bipartisan score, while those scoring in the negative range are not

According to the report, some of the most presumed bipartisan members of Congress are not as moderate or centrist as they appear, or make themselves out to be.

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D) is considered the most partisan member of the Florida congressional delegation, while Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R) is considered to be the least partisan member.

As far as Florida's two Senators go, of the 100 U.S. Senators in Congress, Sen. Rick Scott (R) is the most partisan with a ranking of 81.  Sen. Marco Rubio (R) is far more bipartisan and ranks 9th overall.
