Florida Rep. Michael Waltz (R) was interviewed by Fox and Friends this morning, and he discussed the need for Congress to pass legislation that would provide additional funding for small businesses and hospitals. As well, he emphasized that Congress needs to continue working on solutions for economic recovery and that they should not be heading into a month-long recess during this pandemic.
He thanked essential workers for continuing to work and provide services to the American people even as they risk their own lives and health during this pandemic. As such, those same essential workers expect Congress to be working for them as well.
Commenting on the matter, Waltz expressed that “if we can have people [driving] our ambulances, our healthcare workers and folks in grocery stores and all of those brave Americans out there taking those risks, I’m ready to take those risks, too.”
The freshman lawmaker added that he can’t “overstate how desperate things are becoming.”
As a result, lawmakers “have to get to work” and they “have to help [Americans.]”
Slamming congress, he detailed that “there’s no reason we should still be in recess,” arguing that “the American people expect Congress to work for them and these are the types of things we need going forward.”
It’s now confirmed to be reality as Florida has shattered tourism records.
