In a recent poll that was released by Climate Nexus Polling, 75% of Florida voters overwhelmingly argue that they want clean energy to be a central part of the recovery process in the sunshine state.
Climate Nexus Polling is the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, and the George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication also recorded that voters believe politicians should consult with scientists and experts concerning the best measures to handle the current coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement, Dylan Reed, the Director of Advanced Energy Economy, commented that “the overwhelming majority of Floridians recognize that advanced energy solutions can create and lower the cost of energy for families and businesses.”
Reed added that “the advanced energy industry is ready to work with state and federal leaders to leverage private investment to help with an economic recovery,” noting that “forward thinking policies can create jobs, invest in communities, and lower the cost of energy households and businesses while diversifying Florida’s energy portfolio.”
Echoing in Reeds’ remarks, Dr. Anthony Leiserowitz, the Director of the Yale Program of Climate Change Communication, expressed that “as the nation begins to plan how to rebuild the economy, American voters strongly prefer to invest taxpayer dollars in a future powered by clean, renewable energy instead of fossil fuels.”
In recent years, environmental concerns have been at the forefront of topics discussed in the political arena, and the Green New Deal ushered in some progressive support while receiving criticism from both Republicans and moderate Democrats.
In addition, voters shared their thoughts on a number of other topics.
76% of voters argued that, ahead of the November presidential election, there should be more vote-by-mail in all states, and 59% of voters also agree that the federal government should hold the general election as scheduled with the aid of expanding vote-by-mail services.
