U.S. Marine Casey Askar owes everything to America

“It’s my duty to defend America with everything I have because I owe everything I have to America,” said congressional candidate Casey Askar in his campaign announcement video.

Askar, a successful business owner and U.S. Marine from Naples, Florida has decided to run in the crowded Republican congressional primary for the 19th district.

Askar's campaign announcement video explains how he and his family escaped Iraq during the rise to power of Saddam Hussein and built their rags to riches story in the U.S.

The Harvard Business School graduate founded and runs the family business, which besides owning properties, owns a bunch of restaurant franchises like Church’s Chicken and Dunkin Donuts.

“As a U.S. Marine, I have the desire to serve this great country that has given me the truest American Dream. At a young age my family fled oppressors in Iraq and came to America. Every day my heart is full and grateful for the opportunities my family and I found in the United States. In Congress, I will give everything I have to give back and save our country for future generations. Our Florida 19th Congressional district needs a fighter in Congress,” said Askar

The married father of six children will have his hands full in this congressional race. Askar will have to contend with seven other candidates: State Reps. Dane Eagle, Byron Donalds, and Heather Fitzenhagen,  Dr. William Figlesthaler, Christy McLaughlin, and Daniel Severson.

The winner of the primary race is all-but assured to be the next member of the U.S. House of Representatives as this congressional district is a very safe Republican seat.

Askar, like the rest of the field, will have to put off campaigning until the Coronavirus pandemic clears up.
