Trump: Florida is "very aggressive" about getting Coronavirus relief aid

Share

The Coronavirus or COVID-19 is rapidly spreading across the U.S. and Florida appears to be the only state that is getting everything they have asked for from the federal government to combat the virus.

According to McClatchy’s White House Correspondent Francesca Chambers, President Trump says that the reason Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has “had 100 percent of its requests for supplies fulfilled” was because he and Jared Moskowitz, the Director of the Florida Division of Emergency, have been advocating for the state “better than other states.”

"Florida, look, they're very aggressive in trying to get things, and they're doing a very good job,” said President Trump

Moskowitz, a former Democratic state legislator with congressional aspirations, has been receiving high praises from both Republicans and Democrats for his efforts on dealing with disaster relief and now the Coronavirus pandemic.

Some of the same Democrats who have been critical of Gov. DeSantis’ handling of the outbreak in the state, including Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Ted Deutch, have also given Moskowitz high marks for his efforts, efforts that were directed by DeSantis.

Reps. Deutch and Wasserman Schultz have been calling for the state to be completely shut down, or at the very least, have all of Florida’s beaches closed.

DeSantis has defied all requests to shut down the state.

The cases of COVID-19 continue to climb in Florida with 4,294 confirmed cases, 594 hospitalized, and 59 dead.
