Scott Invites Sec. Wilkie to address Veterans' Issues

Share

This week, Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) directed a letter to Robert Wilkie, the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

On twitter, Senator Scott shared the letter, which invites Secretary Wilkie “to join me in FL and hear firsthand from our veterans about the daily challenges that our American heroes face.”

For Republicans, reforming the VA and making sure that veterans receiving the adequate service and care has been a top priority, and Senator Scott doubled down on this by asserting that he’s “committed to finding the solutions and making sure Florida remains the most military & veteran-friendly state in the nation.”

In the letter, Senator Scott reminds that “as a Navy veteran myself, I know firsthand the sacrifices our military members, veterans, and their families make to keep our country safe.” He adds that “as Governor, I made it my mission to turn Florida into the most military and veteran-friendly state in the nation, and as U.S. Senator, I will always do everything I can to support our veterans.”

Scott explains that Florida “is home to approximately 1.5 million veterans and the number continues to increase.” So, in extending an invitation to Secretary Wilkie, the Florida Senator argues that lawmakers must answer pressing matters, which includes the fact that “the VA faces the expected challenges of delivering consistent, quality services while the population it serves is perpetually expanding.
