Over the weekend, President Trump released a string of tweets directed at Iran. One of the tweets, written in Farsi, was “the most liked Persian tweet” in the history of Twitter.
In one of the President’s tweets, he asserts “to the leaders of Iran,” “DO NOT KILL YOUR PROTESTORS.”
The President went on to explain that “thousands have already been killed or imprisoned by you, and the World is watching.”
He highlighted that “more importantly, the USA is watching” before calling for Iran to “turn your internet back on and let reporters roam free!”
As well, the President asked the country to “stop the killing of your great Iranian people!”
Agreeing with the President, Florida Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) responded to the Trump, arguing that we need to enact the “same policy for Russia since they interfered in our 2016 elections.”
She noted that the country has “targeted members of the opposition party, they prop up” the Communist Maduro Regime in Venezuela and she made the call for the President to “stand up to Putin and Russia.” This, she asserted, is the essence of “America First.”
Rep. Mucarsel-Powell is usually at odds with President Trump on just about every issue but the two appear to have found common ground.
