Soto, Wasserman Schultz push "GOP Tax Scam" narrative ahead of Christmas

Share

President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans continue to champion the historic tax reform bill that was signed into law two years ago, saying that Americans are benefitting from the tax cut and the booming economy is proof that the tax law is working.

Democrats, on the other hand, are singing another Christmas "tax fraud" carol.

Since the bill was signed into law, Democrats have been espousing a political talking point, saying that the measure did not offer enough relief for middle to lower-income Americans, and only benefitted the rich and corporations.

Like all politically-motivated counter-offensives against the rival political factions, Trump’s tax law was labeled a “GOP tax scam.”

Now with a number of editorials written by news outlets that all-but call Trump tax reform plan as being a "fraud" that has only benefitted the rich, House Democrats are once again pushing the “Trump tax fraud” and “#GOPTax Scam” political narrative.

Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) took to social media to promote one of these editorials, saying that the story was “long-term evidence” that the “#GOPTaxScam” was simply a giveaway to corporate coffers.”

Rep. Wasserman Schultz’s fellow House Democrat, Rep. Darren Soto, also tweeted an editorial, blaming that the tax cuts “doubled deficit to nearly $1 Trillion a year and business investment still shrunk.”

Republicans shrug off the Democrat’s claims and continue to point to the growing American economy as proof that Trump’s economic policy, which includes the 2017 tax cuts, is working.
